What a lovely day I've had in the craftroom today. It was so windy and I've had such a stressful week that abit of craft therapy was definetly called for. The students at work are doing art journaling as a project and have been looking at different ways of making books with their work, so I decided to have a go too. To be honest this idea has been buzzing around my head for ages and it's a relief it's finally out.
Here's what the front cover looks like... The beads at the side are holding the pages in and are a new way for me of binding a book together.
Here you can see some of the depth and texture that I created - but that's a post for the future as to the technique I've used. Needless to say there are some WOW! Powders on it. The box of them just calls to as I'm working and they are too irresistible even with the lid on the box covering them up!
This is the bead detail across the top. The faceted beads were bought as a 50p bracelet from Primark - bargain!! I've used wire to string them together with some teardrop and seed beads. Can you spot the owl too?? Well, let me off, I've not used one on a project for ages...
Here's a pic of the pages. Believe it or not the paper is from brown paper bags that I've cut to size and stuck back to back to create a page.
I really can't tell you how chuffed I am with this little book and I thoroughly enjoyed making it.
Why don't you have a go? There's still time too to enter the WOW! Embossing Powder Valentines Challenge, if you don't the DT will be FORCED to use the powders instead!!
Happy Crafting.

Absolutely incredible piece of work Lisa! Can't wait to learn the embossing technique you used to get the wonderful textures :)

beautiful book
Lisa I love this! So cute, just fab! xx
What a wonderful book. I bought a necklace in Primark with lots of keys on it yesterday, only £1 in the sale. Hobbycraft charge far more for just one key.
this is so pretty - love it!
Lisa this is lovely. Got some Owl earings from Primark to use as embellishments - are you jealous? lol x
